A mail from Roy Haddock in New York made me look into a
Haddock-Simmons
connection in St Thomas during the 19th century.(Here presented in a 5 generations box chart.)
However, Roys ancestry does not connect here, instead going back to the
British Virgin Islands.
Dutch vital records - on the net!
Try Genlias, when carry out research in the Netherland Antilles for the years roughly ~1870 - ~1930 (Bonaire diverge). Genlias is a joint project between Dutch arcives in order to make vital records available.
From Saba, today only marriage records have been extracted. For remaining islands in the Netherland Antilles even births and death records have been transcribed.

A mail from Michelle Septer announced a forthcomming event. The Simmons Reunion on Saba in January 2008. Last time, Reunion of 2006, brought an understanding for the island and what life might have offered parents or ancestors, bridging past to present while passing on the family history.
